Another day, another “cringe” style that screams millennial to anyone under the age of 25: no-show socks. Just like jeggings and side parts of the past, Gen Z has declared socks cool again. Look at any fashion star or random young person on the street and you’ll see noticeable socks, not the bare ankles of the 2010s. Crew socks, ankle socks, and scrunched socks—they’re all fair game.
Sometimes, making an update to your wardrobe can be time-consuming and expensive. However, socks are easy and for the most part, affordable. And there are levels to how much sock you can choose to wear. If you’re pro-no-show sock, start small with just an inch or so of white coming out of your sneaker or loafer. If you’re a fan of obvious ankle socks like I am, you can go all in with scrunched styles and even some frills.

Hue Women’s Mini Crew Sock 6-Pack
$19 Buy Now On Amazon
By far, the most popular ankle socks on TikTok are these ones from Hue, which influencers swear are the best alternatives for the Tna Base Ankle Socks, which are $28 for five pairs. Hue’s are cheaper and have the same perfect ankle length. (I know, I have them!)
Athletic Works Women’s Cushioned Crew Socks, 10-Pack
These Walmart-exclusive crew socks are moisture-wicking and feature a comfortable toe seam so that every step you take is comfortable and cushioned. “This solves the dilemma I have with crew socks. They’re great with sneakers but often my feet are just too hot. These are great because they’re lightweight and breathable. They’re by no means thin, though,” wrote one reviewer.
NevEND 6 Pairs Women’s & Men’s Mini Crew/Ankle Cotton Athletic Socks
$17 Buy Now On Amazon
Some creators swear NevEND’s socks are even better with the perfect “thick but not too thick” stretchy material. I think I might need to try these, too.
Bombas Women’s Lightweight Bow Quarter Sock 3-Pack
If you prefer something a bit more girly and less sporty, Bombas’ bow quarter socks are perfect. Wear them with low-profile sneakers, loafers, and even heels. I have this three-pack and love styling them with my chunky Mary Janes (these socks have gotten me many compliments, too!). I’m also a big fan of the brand’s frilly socks because, similar to the bow ones, they’re cute, comfy, and versatile.
Tna Base Ankle Sock 3 Pack
If you want to spend a few more bucks, Aritzia has tons of options, from major scrunch socks that look so cute with sweats to the more sleek Tna Best-Ever Ankle Socks you can wear every day.
Hanes Womens Value, Ankle Soft Moisture-wicking Socks
$11 Buy Now On Amazon
Others swear by the ultra-affordable Hanes Ankle Soft Moisture-Wicking Socks, which are $11 for 10 pairs. They look to be a great starter sock for those just getting comfortable without their no-shows.
Lululemon Women’s Daily Stride Ribbed Comfort Crew Socks 3-Pack
With extra cushion over the toes and a thicker texture that holds the shape, Lululemon’s Women’s Daily Stride Comfort Crew Sock has a loyal following. They aren’t cheap but the comfort just might be worth it if you’re doing serious walking.
Bombas Women’s Quarter Socks
Bombas’ Women’s Quarter Socks are longer than the brand’s ankle socks but shorter than the calf socks, making them perfect for a variety of footwear. They’re also possibly the most comfortable option on the list, with arch support and a Y-stitched heel.
Alo Unisex Half-Crew Throwback Sock
The big Alo logo on these socks might not work for all your outfits but for pilates and yoga outfits, they couldn’t be cuter—and more comfortable.
American Trench Solid Shortie Crew Socks
These quarter-crew socks are a little longer than others but just as chic with sneakers, boots, or any other footwear your heart desires. The soft cotton blend and ribbed texture are especially cozy for cooler months.
